New Acting Workshop “Scenes” Coming to The Villages
The Villages Amateur Theatre (VAT) is launching a new acting workshop this February called Scenes, created especially for beginners who want to try acting for the first time, as well as for those who would like to refresh or sharpen their skills. Meetings will be held in Cribari Auditorium every other Monday at 1:00 p.m. beginning February 2, and every other Sunday at 6:00 p.m. beginning February 7. Participants may attend either day or both..
Residents will work with short scenes from familiar movies, TV shows, and comedies—such as Casablanca, A Few Good Men, The Carol Burnett Show, and Seinfeld. Small groups rehearse together, try out character choices, and learn core acting skills without the pressure of memorizing long lines or performing for a live audience. There are no public performances; the focus is on building skills and confidence, especially for those who might someday want to audition for a VAT production.
The workshop is led by Villages resident Ken Mallon, an experienced director, actor, and teacher recently seen as Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express. All residents are welcome, from complete beginners to returning performers.
Residents who are interested may contact Ken at kpmallon@yahoo.com for details or to reserve a spot.
