  • ANNOUNCING SPRING 2026 VAT SHOW….(Dec 18, 2025)

Calling all Actors, Dancers, Singers, Stagehands, Builders and Seamstresses!

The VAT board is delighted to announce the spring show will be “Guys and Dolls”, that wonderful musical based on Damon Runyon’s stories of gamblers, gangsters, cops, and lovers back when zoot suits were in style.  This delightful show has something for everyone.  Great dancing with Adelaide and the Hot Box girls and a Cuban nightclub.  Men’s choruses singing “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat” and “Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game”.  Love songs like “I’ll Know” and “I wish you Love”.

In addition to our fantastic Maestro, Larry Broderick on the piano, we are hoping to have a trumpet player and drummer to add to the atmosphere.

Matinee Theatre – a Howling Success (November 28, 2025)

The hilarious performances of DOCTOR, DOCTOR and NOW HEAR THIS held on Tuesday November 25 had the audience in stitches from start to finish!

First up was NOW HEAR THIS  a take-off on the game of Telephone that you played when  you were a kid, but it’s an adult version (Oo la la!). Five characters, on a cruise ship, are in a Cocktail Lounge: a flamboyant, cigar-smoking Senator (played by Ken Mallon)  asks the Senator’s Aide (played by Jason Herfurth) to pass on a message, he passes it to one waitress (played by Rolene Au Claire) who passes the message to the 2nd waitress (played by Melissa Aranoff) who passes it to a Lady (played by Kellen Perry), and what finally reaches the ship’s captain (played by Jayme Dickson) was hilarious! Short and oh so funny!

That was followed by DOCTOR, DOCTOR, filled with snappy dialogue and characters that you’ve probably run into right here at the Villages. It made everyone laugh and cry, sometimes both at the same time.

Dr. Fatpacker, (played by Bob Dolce) harried by his secretary and full of himself; Jenny Flecks, (played by Kristel Moffett) airhead receptionist, who reads People Magazine, does her nails, and chews gum; Mrs. McGillicuddy, (played by Shirley Roberts) an old lady who’s forgetful and hard of Hearing; Bob Bush (played by Paul Miner), and his wife Rose (played by Beatriz Cagley), He’s a drunk who thinks he’s pretty darn funny, and she’s his long-suffering wife; and Mrs. Bea Sting, (played by Connie Hendrickson) who’s a bit of a hypochondriac, short, heavy, and on the prowl.

We can’t wait to see what the Matinee Theatre brings us next season.

A Thankful VAT (Nov 20, 2025)

It is apropos that Thanksgiving is almost upon us as the Villages Amateur Theatre Club looks back at the recent success of our ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ run of performances (Oct 31, Nov 1 & Nov 2, 2025).

Murder on the Orient Express Cast (Linda Piersol, Jayme Dickson, Connie Hendrickson, Liz Adams, Rolene AuClaire, Jason Herfurth, Sarb Johal, Susan Pastorini, Ken Mallon, Nelson Frick, not pictured Sally Otton)

We are thankful for so many things.  We are thankful for our talented and dedicated cast and crew; we are thankful for the new sound system recently installed at Cribari Center; we are thankful for all the behind-the-scenes VAT members who worked so hard to make our show happen (set designers and constructors, sound and light operators, ticket sellers, ushers).

We are also thankful for the successful roll out of our Sponsorship program and our 2 sponsors:  Platinum Sponsors Jack and Gwen Bindon and Platinum Sponsors David and Bette Loomis.  Their support allows us to continue to provide a vibrant theatrical experience to all Villagers. We look forward to adding more Sponsors to our VAT family.

But most of all we are thankful for the support of our Villagers audience.  We were thrilled to hear your applause and your positive comments.  We look forward to continuing to  provide you with many more enjoyable performances.

Audition for hilarious Matinee Theatre Playlets (Nov 6, 2025)

Theatre is coming back this November.  Time to try your hand at acting! No lines to memorize; just put your spin on some of the following outrageous characters in DOCTOR, DOCTOR, by Bob Naquin, and directed by Kellen Perry

Dr. Fatpacker, who’s harried by his secretary and full of himself
Jenny Flecks, an airhead receptionist, who reads People Magazine, does her nails, and chews gum
Mrs. McGillicuddy, an old lady who’s forgetful and hard of Hearing
Bob Bush, and his wife Rose, He’s a drunk who thinks he’s pretty darn funny, and she’s his long-suffering wife
Mrs. Bea Sting, who’s a bit of a hypochondriac, short, heavy, and on the prowl

DOCTOR, DOCTOR is filled with snappy dialogue and characters that you’ve probably run into right here at the Villages. They’ll make you laugh and cry, sometimes both at the same time.

A 2nd playlet, NOW HEAR THIS, by Dory Kaiser and directed by Kellen Perry, will also be performed. It’s a take-off on the game of Telephone that I played when I was a kid. You might remember it too. We sat in a circle and whispered a message from one to another, laughing at the end because the message had changed so much, and at times, made no sense at all.

Well, this is very similar, but it’s an adult version (Oo la la!). Five characters ,on a cruise ship, are in a Cocktail Lounge: a flamboyant, cigar-smoking Senator asks the Senator’s Aide to pass on a message, he passes it to one waitress who passes the message to the 2nd waitress who passes it to a Lady, and what finally reaches the ship’s captain is hilarious! Short and oh so funny!

DOCTOR, DOCTOR and NOW HEAR THIS will be performed at 2:30 PM on Tuesday November 25th.   Auditions are November 10, Monday, and November 11, Tuesday, at Vineyard Center, from 7-9 pm.
